Artist's Comments
One of the cats that roam El Paseo del Morro in Old San Juan. A colony of cats live among the rocky shores in front of the 500-year-old fortress and are threatened. The Department of Health on the island wishes to exterminate the colony without considering the trap/neuter/return option to control the population. As of right now, the cats are monitored by the National Park Service in Old San Juan. Each cat is trapped, and one ear is clipped to identify them. A petition is currently available to sign to go against the Department of Health's plans. For more information, visit [link], as these cats are a symbolic part of Old San Juan.

We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you  the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on.
